A nice and thick mat provides this comfort for me. I'm not a small guy and I rate sleeping comfort highly.Being a very warm sleeper, thick uninsulated airmats suit me perfectly almost year round. She is in college now and we are constantly getting free samples in the mail, she has one sent to her school and one to our house, to hold for her of course. She is now one of the most frugal people I know and she sure wasn't that way in her early teens. As we went to the snack bar and my then 15 y/o daughter saw the prices, exorbitant is an understatement, and said you know the food on the cruise ship is free maybe we should wait. My kids were "STARVING" as we were ready to leave and had to have food now. My oh wow moment came when we were on a cruise and spent the day at Atlantis. I also think it's a male thing as his friends all seem to be the same. He's a pretty hardcore backpacker and will never say no to a hiking trip regardless of weather so it may be part of his personality in general. My son has gotten much better over the years for sure but he's still hard on his camping gear. That it is and it's such a joy to watch them learn, especially when it's the easy way. Big Agnes has one that looks like it might work but it's so much smaller and the whole appeal of the pump bag to me is to be able to do it quickly. Exped's Schnozzle looks really nice but I am not sure if it's compatible.
This is certainly doable but a bit of a drag day after day when you are tired.
One issue, is the number of breaths required to inflate the Luxe (about 30). It will be interesting to see if the V-shaped baffles will help as far as comfort. I am a really bad tent sleeper so I have to do whatever I can to be comfortable. I haven't fallen off of it yet but it feels a little small and the Luxe is the same weight but 5 inches wider so I thought I would give it a shot. The reviews out there on other sites are all positive, but always interested to know thoughts when I know there's a real person on the other end of them. I look forward to hearing what your thoughts are. I am fair weather tourer and the 30" width sounded appealing for my toss-turn sleep style.
